Treat yourself to a memorable experience with exclusive hire of our Shepherd Huts nestled in peaceful and secluded spots overlooking the parkland.

 

Take the hassle out of your day by pre ordering a picnic hamper which will be delivered on arrival – please email to order a hamper which can be paid for over the phone in advance or on arrival.

Please note that the Huts are located in the parkland and cannot be accessed by a vehicle. Please see below for the walking distance. Unsuitable for those with physical limitations or disabilities due to the remote location. 

 

Please note the closest toilets are next to the Castle, at the Ticket Hut, or the Adventure Playground.

THE OAKS HUT

2 to 4 people

 

Situated on the edge of The Oaks wood, this hut is just half a mile walk from the car park.

 

The Oaks package includes

  • Entry to the Park & Gardens for 2 adults
  • Room inside for up to 4 adults
  • Extra guests can pay Park & Garden admission on arrival
  • All day hire of the hut (10.30am-4.30pm)
  • BBQ & charcoal
  • Table & chairs
  • Cushions & blankets
  • Board games
  • Log burner
  • Logs and fire lighting equipment
  • Stove kettle, mugs, tea and coffee
  • Water and milk

BISHOPSHALL HUT

2 to 6 people

 

Situated across the lake at the edge of woodland, this hut is 1.5 mile walk from the car park.

 

Bishopshall package includes

  • Entry to the Park & Gardens for 2 to 6 adults
  • Room inside for up to 6 adults
  • Extra guests can pay Park & Garden admission on arrival
  • All day hire of the hut (10.30am-4.30pm)
  • BBQ & charcoal
  • Table & chairs

  • Log burner

  • Stove kettle, mugs, tea and coffee

Take the stress out of your day by pre ordering a picnic hamper, which will be waiting for you on arrival. Please note that hampers need to be ordered 48 hours in advance.

Classic Picnic

  • Finger sandwiches served on Bloomsbury freshly baked bread including egg mayonnaise, peppered tuna mayonnaise & cucumber, and brie & cranberry.
  • Slice of pork pie, Pipers crisps and Grasmere sausage rolls.
  • Mixed salad box, potato salad and coleslaw.
  • Homemade brownie and shortbread.

 

Afternoon Tea Picnic

  • Finger sandwiches served on Bloomsbury freshly baked bread including ham salad, peppered tuna mayonnaise & cucumber, and brie & cranberry.
  • Homemade mini victoria sponge, shortbread and rocky road.
  • Homemade fruit or plain scone served with Rodda’s clotted cream and strawberry jam.

 

Reusable plate, napkins, cutlery and a Grimsthorpe tea towel are included in your hamper. Please leave all reusable items inside the hamper to be washed.

Details

Flat price starts at £60 and includes rent of the Shepherd Hut plus two adult entry into the Park & Gardens. Huts can accommodate between 4 and 6 adults. Any add ons after this will need paying for on arrival.

 

On arrival please park in the car park and walk towards the ticket office. Please show your tickets to the member of staff, who will give you a map, key and directions to your hut.

 

The Shepherd Huts do not have enclosed gardens so although dogs are welcome, we ask that you please keep them on a lead.

 

The huts are lockable and Grimsthorpe Castle takes no responsibility for your belongings.
