Covid-19 2020 Information
Tuesday 7 July 2020
It is with regret that we have taken the extremely difficult decision not to reopen Grimsthorpe Castle, gardens or park this year, to the public.
We know this will come as a disappointment to our visitors and staff, but due to the ongoing effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, we feel this is the right option to take.
As well as using this time to carry out essential maintenance on the Castle and grounds, we will be bringing forward plans to build a new car park as well as refurbishing buildings.
We hope to have these exciting projects ready for the 2021 season, and we look forward to seeing you then.
Love from The Grimsthorpe team
Friday 5 June 2020
After reviewing our plans, we have decided to remain closed for the time being. Please know this decision was not made lightly, but after careful consideration and discussion.
Our grounds may be large, but our car park and team here at Grimsthorpe are small. With this in mind, we do not feel that we are able to open safely, nor do we feel able to deliver our full visitor experience at this time.
We will review this again at the end of June, but in the meantime we know that you will understand why we have made this decision and we thank you for your support during this difficult time.
Friday 15 May 2020
We have received a number of messages this week asking if we are to reopen following the latest lift in restrictions.
We have made the decision to remain closed. This is in line with the latest government guidance regarding outdoor-ticketed venues and “pay-for-entry” attractions.
As always, the safety of our staff, visitors, and local community remains our top priority. With that in mind, we are currently working on a phased and gradual plan to reopen, if and when we can.
We are so overwhelmed with the amount of love and support we have received in these last few months, and for that, we thank you.
Stay safe, and hopefully we will see you all soon.
Monday 23 March 2020
We have sadly taken the decision to close Grimsthorpe Castle for the foreseeable future.
During this difficult time, we had hoped we could provide a place of tranquillity for our local community. However, having observed the increasing number of visitors at other properties over the weekend, we no longer feel that opening would be the safe option.
Nature is so important for our mental wellbeing, more now than ever, so we will continue to update our website and social media and share springtime with you.
We know that you will understand why we have made this tough decision, and we look forward to welcoming you when we can re-open.
If possible, stay home, stay local, do not travel, and please observe social distancing guidelines.
A message regarding season tickets will be released shortly.
Friday 20 March 2020
Our team at Grimsthorpe Castle have decided to open up the park, from Thursday 2nd April, as planned. To include Sundays, Thursdays and Holiday Mondays between 10.30am and 4pm. There will be no admission charge.
In order to restrict the spread of coronavirus all other facilities will be closed, including the castle, tearoom, gift shop, gardens and playground.
Whilst we recognise that people will want open space, and fresh air during this difficult time, we ask you to please be aware and adhere to the government’s guidance on social distancing.
