Introduction
Visitors to Grimsthorpe can enjoy access to the Castle, Park and Gardens between April & September. This is an historic site that also offers plenty of open space and fresh air for all to enjoy.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
Car park on site with dedicated parking for disabled visitors. Consolidated gravel & limestone surface. Routes to rest of site are mainly level tarmac with some gravel paths. House is around 200m from main car park.
Main Entrance & Reception
House entrance has three steps. Ramp with handrail also provided. Seating available in reception area. Audio visual guide available on laptop computer.
House tours are free flow with the option of guided tours at 12.30pm and 2pm, Thursdays are guided tour only.
Public Areas – General (Internal)
Two flights of stairs to be negotiated to access/exit first floor. Handrails present. Further steps (6) on main visitor route (no handrail). Floor surfaces include stone, coir matting and marble. Worn stone areas present (safety advice given).
Staff/visitor evacuation procedure in place and tested.
At least one seat in each room. Folding walking stool free loan. Staff trained in sympathetic hearing scheme.
Public Areas – WC
Lavatories provided at The Riding School next the Castle, with one at the entrance. All adapted facilities for disabled visitors, with baby changing. Portaloos are provided within the Adventure Playground.
Restaurant / Dining Room, Bar & Lounges, Take Away & Cafe
Pop up catering in the form of a food trailer. Menu displays on chalk boards. Outside seating with easy access seats and spaces for wheelchair access. Indoor seating for 50 people.
Allergy advisory signs in place. Advice also given on request.
Shop
Ramp access to shop. Floor surface is brick with slight incline. Assistance provided if required. Adequate space between display areas.
Outdoor Facilities
Woodland walk with gravel surface. Can become eroded in bad weather. Part of route has steep slope but can be avoided if necessary. Printed guide for route given out on arrival.
Gardens comprise mixture of tarmac, brick and gravel paths. Mostly level. Seating provided around gardens.
Parts of the routes do have gates (usually open).

Staff and volunteers identifiable as badge wearers. All happy to assist. Dog bowls provided at tea room. Mobile phone reception is variable.
